Type Entomology
Magalog

About the Magalog

My group's type foundry, named "Over The Counter," decided on an entomology journal as the medium to display our fonts. Entomology is the study of insects. The concept of our project was to find the intersection between entomology and typography. Our goal was to use that intersection, along with design elements, in an attempt to showcase the unique characteristics of various fonts. We chose this concept because of the wide range of potential ideas it offered. The idea of creating type bugs particularly appealed to us because we knew from a previous project (see "Type Compositions") how effective a well designed type composition could be in emphasizing the specific characteristics of a font.
